in brief Financial services provider and building society Newcastle Permanent has advertised for a new chief information officer (CIO) to fill the hole left by the departure of current CIO Bruce White to a competitor.

A spokesperson for the building society told ZDNet.com.au that White will be leaving the company this Friday to start work with competitor Greater Building Society. He had spent eight years with Newcastle Permanent.
According to a job application posted on Seek, Newcastle Permanent's new CIO would be responsible for all aspects of IT, including strategic direction, systems development and IT operations.
Based in Newcastle, Newcastle Permanent has operational areas in the Hunter, Central Coast, the Mid North Coast, New England and Northern Rivers Regions.
