No incoming email audio alerts on iPod touch: you got a problem with that?

Reading Katherine Boehret's "Apple's Update for the iPhone and iPod touch piece in yesterday's Wall Street Journal,  I realized something that hadn't occurred to me before.

Unlike the iPhone, the iPod touch's newly enhanced ability to check your email from a WiFi hotspot rather than through a traditional cell carrier comes with a drawback.

Katherine points out that becase the touch lacks a speaker and vibrating capabilities, it does not have the ability to chime or buzz when you receive an incoming email.

"Because of this, the touch wouldn't work for me as a serious, everyday tool like the BlackBerry and iPhone," she writes.

As for me, no biggie. I get so many emails that to get a buzz everytime a new one came in would make me and my workday more manic than it already is.

But how about you, readers? Does the absence of chiming or buzzing email alerts on he iPod touch create issues for you that might even serve to discourage you from purchasing this device?
