The Nokia N8 is officially on its way to consumers...at least across the pond. The release dates are staggered, so how much do you really want this hyped smartphone?
Starting October 15, the Nokia N8 will be available online for immediate delivery. Afterwards, it is expected to pop up with the following stores and carriers on October 22: Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, Phones4u, T-Mobile, Tesco Phone Shops, Three Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.

Pricing starts at £429 ($683) contract-free, or if you like that sort of thing, you can get this handheld for free with a contract starting at £30 ($48) per month.
If you're a U.K. resident, the N8 will also come pre-loaded with the BBC iPlayer app from the Ovi Store. As someone who has sampled the iPlayer on her computer during frequent visits to London, I can attest that this app could pretty awesome with plenty of content from across the Beeb. You know, rather than just repeats of How Clean Is Your House seen every hour on BBC America.
