Nominet issues warning over small print

Nominet says check the small print...
Written by Richard Barry, Contributor

The UK's national Registry for all Internet Domain Names ending .uk, Nominet, has issued a warning urging those registering domains to check terms and conditions of their ISP before signing up.

Nominet says it is concerned customers may subsequently get caught out, "particularly if they try to change ISP at a later date."

Lesley Cowley, Nominet UK's operations director, says instances had been brought to Nominet's notice where the ISP's Terms & Conditions have allowed them to hold on to a Domain Name registration even if the Registrant moves to another ISP. Others offer free Domain Name registration but then charge for transfers.
