Orange's UK data network is suffering from ongoing problems that began on Wednesday afternoon, according to a number of customer complaints on Twitter.

The operator's data service has been down for the network's users for more than the last 24 hours, a flurry of frustrated posts on Twitter suggests. Orange has confirmed that some customers may be "experiencing reduced data access", but it has not defined the scale of the outage.

"Looks like Orange in the UK are having some massive data network issues; just spoke to a rep thinking it was me going mad," wrote one Twitter user, James Marshall. Even the comedian Dave Gorman chimed in. "Orange Mobile 3G service down for most of the day. No service announcement. Nothing on the website. Patronising customer service. Bad form," Gorman tweeted.

"We can confirm that some Orange mobile customers across the UK maybe experiencing reduced data access," an Orange spokesperson told ZDNet UK on Wednesday. "We are trying to resolve this issue as a matter of priority and would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused."

No details were provided around the cause of the outage or when the service is expected to be running at full capacity again.
