Hoping to ease concerns about shortages, handheld maker Palm Inc. announced Wednesday that AMD (amd) will become its primary provider of flash memory chips through 2003. Last year, consumer demand for cell phones demand caused a shortage of some components, such as flash memory and LCD displays, that are also used in handheld computers.
