I’ve posted a number of times about how the microdrive in my HTC Advantage did a magic act. It would appear and disappear from the system configuration which really confused Windows Mobile 6 and made my life a bit more difficult than it needed to be. I provided an update in the post, Repair of my HTC Advantage Part 5. This should be the last update on this topic.
An HTC representative contacted me and apologized for the problems that I've seen and asked what the company could do to address the issue. I suggested that about the only way to make me a happy customer was to replace the unit rather than making one more abortive try at finding and fixing the intermittent problem.
The representative took my case up with PTB (powers that be) and they decided to send out a new unit.
It arrived today and, thanks to Spb House's Backup 2 software, I'm back in business.
