Samsung Galaxy S smartphone series owners can start doing a happy dance as the Android 2.2 update is now in place and on its way.

Galaxy S owners will be able to make full use of that  1GHz processor with all of the Froyo goodies, including:

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1
  • Google Maps with GPS navigation and voice guidance
  • Search in-Browser : Google, Translate, Wikipedia, Dictionary
  • Preview by pinch-zoom on the home screen and in menus
  • Galaxy S Setup Wizard

When ready, anyone who wants to download the update will need to use Kies, Samsung's own software upgrade software.

The roll out is set to begin in mid-October, and since today is the 15th, that's really any time now. It looks like our friends in the Nordic countries will be getting their hands on this first, but never fear as it will surely be headed to other European countries, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and North America soon.
