Seagate on Tuesday launched a new 600GB enterprise drive that runs at 10,000 RPM in a 2.5-inch package. The drives are designed for datacentres.
According to the company, the Savvio 10K.4 drive doubles the capacity of previous drives and is designed to deliver two million hours Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) reliability.
This version of the Savvio drive is the fourth-generation 2.5-inch hard-disk drive. Among the features, optional and otherwise, are enhanced protection of data in flight; self-encryption; and power savings during idle time.
