Sharp plans long-life LCD
Japanese giant Sharp said today that it has developed an LCD screen that draws a fraction of the power usually required by the technology.

The reflective TFT LCD only needs 10 per cent of the power typically needed by the backlit LCDs that are an important reason for the low battery life of notebook PCs. However, reflective screens don't have the brightness or contrast levels of their backlit siblings.
Sharp said PDAs and other very small devices would be the main market for the screens.
