The Donovan System Configurator (DSC), created by Donovan Systems, which designs and manufactures 64-bit Linux servers, is said to simplify the installation of a wide range of Apache Web-server setups and email. Version 1.0 of the software, which the company claims to be pre-installed in every SPARC-based Linux server purchased from Donovan, can be downloaded from the company's Penguin64 Web site.

Key features include secure socket layer (SSL), JServ (Java Servlets), PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) and database support for Apache.

According to Donovan CEO Gary Foong, extra features will be added soon, including firewall configurations and a page builder. A Chinese-language version is also under development, as well as a version for Intel platforms, the statement said.

"These are increasingly important markets for us," noted Foong in the statement.
