Sony to expand its line of Bravia RHT-G HDTV stands with built-in speaker systems

If you can't stand the clutter of multiple speakers strewn across your living room but want something a little more robust than a soundbar, Sony has previously offered the Bravia RHT-G800 Theater System Televison Stand. It featured a built-in multi-channel surround speakers, two subwoofers, and an integrated amp. According to Engadget, the company is readying a new set of RHT-G stands that are more closely tailored to TVs of specific sizes.
For those with sets sized 32 to 40 inches, the RHT-G550 offers 3.1 channel audio and 330 watts of power, while the RHT-G950 fits for 40-inch to 46-inch TVs, and the RHT-G1550 (pictured) is designed for larger 46-inch to 55-inch displays. The latter two come with 5.1 channel surround sound. Each stand comes with three HDMI inputs (as opposed to the two that the RHT-G800 came with) as well as a digital media port to connect an iPod or other portable audio source to.
No pricing or availability has been announced. You can still find RHT-G800 on a couple of sites online for $600-$700, which isn't ridiculously overpriced considering you get a stylish stand and a speaker system combined. Can the new stands go for even less? We're waiting to hear back from Sony about that.
