SunPower on Tuesday said it will install a 15-megawatt solar power system on an Arizona Air Force base. The installation will be the largest at a U.S. government facility.

Under the deal, Sun Power will design and construct the solar installation at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona.

The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2011.

According to a statement, Arizona Public Service will own the system, but SunPower will maintain it. APS will sell electricity to Luke Air Force Base.

Construction starts in January pending site prep, permits and environmental assessments.
