The Australian Taxation Office this morning confirmed plans to establish a Siebel development centre in Melbourne to support the customer relationship management component of its AU$400 million-AU$450 million change program.

ATO chief information officer Bill Gibson told ZDNet Australia  the ATO planned to recruit around 100 people, including developers, technical support and project managers, over the next eight to 10 weeks to staff the centre, which will support release two of the change program.

The centre, which will most likely be located in Melbourne's central business district, is expected to operate for two years.

The centre will undertake design, build and testing of case management functionality, complementing the already-built contact centre functionality and third-stage core processing functionality.
