Career site Glassdoor ranks the 20 best internships in America.

As the job market struggles to right itself, internships remain one of the best ways for young workers to get a foot in the door in many industries. Career site Glassdoor has ranked the 20 best internships in America, based on intern ratings.

To qualify for the rankings, companies had to be currently hiring interns and had to have received at least 20 reviews from interns.

Google is considered the best internship program in the country - it was recently represented in the Owen Wilson - Vince Vaughn movie "The Internship" (and, according to a former Google intern, the film is remarkably accurate about the experience).

But Microsoft interns actually earn the most - an average of $5,869 a month, while JP Morgan's internship program improved the most, jumping nine spots since last February.

Here are the top 20 internships, ratings, and average pay:

1. Google: 4.6 out of 5 rating, $5,832 average monthly base pay

2. Qualcomm: 4.4 out of 5 rating, $4,593 average monthly base pay

3. Microsoft: 4.3 out of 5 rating, $5,869 average monthly base pay

4. Procter & Gamble: 4.3 out of 5 rating, $4,057 average monthly base pay

5. Intel: 4.1 out of 5 rating, $4,734 average monthly base pay

6. PricewaterhouseCoopers: 4.1 out of 5 rating, $4,162 average monthly base pay

7. KPMG: 4.1 out of 5 rating, $3,819 average monthly base pay

8. Nordstrom: 4.0 out of 5 rating, $2,064 average monthly base pay

9. JPMorgan Chase: 4.0 out of 5 rating, $4,031 average monthly base pay

10. Cisco: 4.0 out of 5 rating, $3,904 average monthly base pay

11. MTV Networks: 4.0 out of 5 rating

12. Ernst & Young: 3.9 out of 5 rating, $4,200 average monthly base pay

13. General Electric: 3.9 out of 5 rating, $3,134 average monthly base pay

14. Merrill Lynch: 3.9 out of 5 rating, $1,704 average monthly base pay
