The sports junkie's iPhone Web app

So you've got an iPhone but you can't remember all the sports scores Web sites when you're trying to catch the Sixers or Flyers score (sorry, showing my Philly bias). Worse: trying to load the full ESPN or Sportsline Web site on an EDGE connection.

The sports junkieÂ’s iPhone Web app
So you've got an iPhone but you can't remember all the sports scores Web sites when you're trying to catch the Sixers or Flyers score (sorry, showing my Philly bias). Worse: trying to load the full ESPN or Sportsline Web site on an EDGE connection.

A friend showed me a great Web app yesterday – no jailbreaking required – that's a must have for any iPhone/iPod touch user that follows sports. Point your device's brower to SportsTap.mobi.

SportsTap currently provides scores for all of the major sports including MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA, PGA, NASCAR, F1, IndyCar, NFL, AF, Premier, UEFA, and MLS.

If you're a sports junkie/fantasy player, they offer a US$2/month service called MyTap that allows you to select the players and teams you want to follow for NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL all within the stylish SportsTap interface.

A little red circle on each icon shows the number of games currently in progress (i.e. MLB has seven) and clicking in displays an updated scoreboard showing games in progress first. Clicking into a current game gives you a scoring summary and clicking a completed games will display the box score.

SportsTap has plans to add Lacrosse, Tennis and other sports soon. (Tip: Michael Foglia).
