UMAX Computer Corp. this month revealed plans for a Mac clone bundled with Connectix Corp.'s Virtual PC emulator.

The C600vPC, due in November for a street price of $1,495, will be based on a 200-MHz PowerPC 603e chip and pack 32 Mbytes of RAM, a 3.3-Gbyte hard disk, a 256-Kbyte Level 2 cache and built-in Ethernet.

UMAX said the included copy of Virtual PC, normally priced between $149 and $169, will let users run Windows 3.1, 95 and NT, as well as IBM Corp.'s OS/2 and Apple's OpenStep.

The system will also come with Connectix's Speed Doubler 8, which boosts the speed of Mac systems. The company last week also released new models in the S900 and J700 lines.

UMAX Computer Corp. of Fremont, Calif., can be reached at (510) 226-6886 or (800) 232-8629; fax (510) 623-7350; products@supermac.com;.
