Video: Growing pains at People Telecom

Growing pains at People Telecom
Written by Munir Kotadia, Contributor

People Telecom began as a Sydney-based start-up Internet service provider in 2000 and has since grown at an incredible pace.

From a base of just five employees, People Telecom now has 135 staff and over 40,000 residential and business broadband customers. Unsurprisingly, the company has experienced many challenges along the way.

John Stanton, the company's new CEO, recently spoke to ZDNet Australia about how People Telecom has been dealing with its 'growing pains'.

In this 9 minute video, Stanton talks about some of the business issues the company has faced during periods of extreme growth.

He also offers an insight into why broadband users are soon likely to have more bandwidth than they pay for, and why ISPs have a 'duty of care' to make security services available to users who demand them.
