Woz revises his "most astounding" Bing review

When Fudzilla posted a story under the linkbait headline yesterday that read Apple founder praises Microsoft I have to admit that I got sucked in. I was immediately skeptical, but really, who could resist a headline like that?

Turns out that the piece was about Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's unveiling of its new search engine Bing at the All Things Digital Conference in California and, more specifically, Steve Wozniak's reaction to it, which he called "one of the most astounding software demo I've ever seen" (video).

I got in touch with Woz to ask him more about his thoughts on Bing and he had this to say:

I tried Bing last night about 2 AM and was very happy with the results but it's too small a test to draw conclusions from. I mainly wanted to see if it was lousy off the bat, but it seemed very nice. It got the sort of results I most wanted at the top. The visual appearance drew me to the right elements in the right 'order' (priority). Secondary searches were successful as well (using the categories to the left).

When asked if he thinks that Microsoft has enough features and sizzle to unseat Google Woz responded:

After using Bing for a month I'll be in better shape to really have a conclusion, comparing it to Google search.

What's your review of Bing? Does it have a chance against Google?
