ANZ Bank technology boss Mike Grime has announced his retirement and will be replaced by the CEO of UK cheque processing joint venture iPSL, David Cartwright.

Currently group managing director, operations, technology and shared services, Grime's planned retirement will end his tenure at the bank which began in 2003.

Cartwright will join ANZ in the next few months, according to the bank. He has 22 years experience in operations and technology from several roles he held at Barclays. Cartwright left Barclays in 2004.

Both ANZ CIO Peter Dalton and managing director, operations, Graeme Hosking, are expected to report to Cartwright.

Cartwright will report to ANZ CEO John MacFarlane.

"We are very pleased to have someone of David's calibre join ANZ. His experience in technology and operations is important in continuing to advance our agenda on productivity, particularly end-to-end simplification," said MacFarlane.
