in brief ING Australia has signed on Indian outsourcing company Wipro as its main IT services supplier in a three-year, $15 million deal.

Under the deal signed just over three weeks ago, Wipro will be supporting and developing ING Australia's registry platform, according to the fund management company. ING had decided to reduce the number of suppliers it dealt with, an ING spokesperson said, with Wipro coming out on top as the primary provider of IT services.

While Wipro worked on the fund manager's existing legacy registry platform, ING Australia also planned to develop a new registry platform which would work beside the legacy systems, according to the spokesperson. The work, expected to be worth no more than $10 million, has already gone to tender.

The spokesperson said the new deal with Wipro would not affect the jobs of any internal IT staff. The deal was first reported in The Australian Financial Review this morning.
