Acer's 7-inch Iconia Tab A100 Android Honeycomb tablet will go on sale in the UK for just under £300, according to a pre-order page on Amazon UK.
It is not clear when the A100 page went up, but it says the tablet will become available on 20 April. The A100 is a smaller version of the 10.1-inch-screened A500, which will go on sale on the same day at a price of £450.
The pricing of the A100 marks the cheapest-yet Android Honeycomb tablet to be announced for the UK market. HTC's Flyer also has a 7-inch screen, but it costs twice the price of the £299 A100. By way of contrast, the cheapest version of Apple's iPad 2 costs £399.
Other Android tablets have gone on sale at prices below £200, but not from high-end manufacturers, and not carrying Honeycomb: the first version of Android to be optimised for tablet usage.
The A100 has an 8GB hard drive, half a gigabyte of RAM and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, with connectivity coming in the form of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. 3G connectivity will add £100 to the price.
