Google has introduced the ability to edit Google Docs documents through the mobile browser on some devices.

On Wednesday, Google software engineer Andrew Grieve said in a blog post that the feature would be rolled out over "the next few days" to users of Android 2.2 handsets and iOS devices running version 3.0 or higher of Apple's platform, such as the iPhone and iPad. Only English-language use is supported for now, although Google will be "adding support for other languages soon".

The functionality lets the user edit text documents through the mobile browser, as had already been possible with Google spreadsheets. For Android users, it also means the ability to add to a document through speech-to-text.
