Minter Ellison poised to outsource

Law firm Minter Ellison is on the verge of
signing an outsourcing deal with Optus-owned services unit Alphawest encompassing
disaster recovery and Web hosting.
The company last year selected Alphawest as preferred supplier after conducting a tender process.
Minter Ellison director of technology Peter Westerveld said his department had identified a number of areas that could be outsourced and were looking at shifting the law firm's ICT equipment to an off-site data centre.
"Our rooms are not of the quality of an N [level] data centre," he said.
However, he stressed that Alphawest was only the preferred tenderer, and that no deal had yet been signed.
