Nominations for Britain's most innovative and creative Internet companies of the year were announced by the organisers of the Yell UK Web Awards 2000 Thursday.
The awards have 11 categories including, Most Innovative Use of Technology, Best ISP and Best E-commerce Site with the cream of Britain's new media industry jostling for a prestigious new trophy. There are, however, also the odd award for more humble Web enthusiasts such as Best Personal Web site.
Yell.com -- BT's (quote: BT) directories business that is due to float later this year is hosting the awards. According to a Yell spokesman there that has been a 25 percent increase in the number of nominations this year.
"The response to the Yell UK Web awards has been phenomenal this year," says a Yell spokesman. "Choosing finalists at the next stage of judging is sure to be a challenge for this year's panel."
The panel will be made up of experts from various sections of the new media industry including business experts, marketing consultants and Internet experts who will present the winners with their awards in a ceremony at the London Studios in July.
