Novell heads Net printing standards bid
Novell is at the forefront of a posse of industry leaders bidding to make printing across the Internet as easy as printing over a LAN.

The networking giant is heading up a standard proposal called Lightweight Document Printing Application (LDPA) for controlling print jobs across the Internet and intra-nets. LDPA is a simplified version of today's ISO 10175 protocol. Novell is backed by Hewlett-Packard, Adobe, Canon, IBM, Intel, Lexmark, QMS, Ricoh, Sharp, Tektronix, Toshiba and Xerox.
The Multi-Function Peripheral Association (MFPA) will also endorse LDPA and will work to add fax, scan and copy support.
