in brief A power failure yesterday afternoon caused some Optus corporate customers in Sydney to lose their telephony and DSL services for a few hours.

The interruption to service occurred at 3pm. Optus jumped on the problem, working with its energy provider towards an answer.

The problem was treated "as a matter of urgency" according to an Optus spokesperson, with all services up and running by 5:30pm.

Optus could not confirm how many customers had been impacted.
