Telstra launches broadband security surveillance

Telstra Business Secure was developed using technology from Sydney-based UHS Systems and is focussed on providing business owners or householders a way of watching over their properties regardless of their geographic location.

Ron Johan, managing director of UHS Systems, said the Business Secure service will allow subscribers to monitor their property 24/7 without having to worry about false alarms.

"With our technology, business owners and householders can watch over their property 24 hours a day, no matter where they are, secure in the knowledge that any attempt to isolate will be immediately recognised. This means instant verification of false alarms -- and no nasty surprises when you return to your property following a legitimate alarm event," said Johan.

Johan said the new service will provide a level of security that was previously only available to companies with a much larger budget.

"Until now, to get this level of security, customers have had to burn cash on dedicated phone lines, call charges, and elaborate back-up systems. It is exciting to think that UHS Systems' unique technology is now opening up an era of high-level security accessible even to households and small and medium sized businesses," said Johan.
