Telstra wins deal with Vic councils

Telstra has won a multi-million dollar contract to provide Victorian Councils with telephony services until the end of 2012.

in brief Telstra has won a multi-million dollar contract to provide Victorian Councils with telephony services until the end of 2012.

The contract will service 38 Victorian councils and one library and is worth an estimated $11 million per year or up to $44 million in total, including the one year extension option.

Telstra will provide varying services and hardware to each council, including mobile telephony, fixed data wide area networks, fixed internet, wireless mobile data, mobile voice and data hardware, conferencing, billing and invoicing as well as reporting tools.

The tender for the contract was overseen by the Municipal Association of Victoria, which represents Victoria's 79 councils.
