Toshiba Portégé G900
Toshiba signalled its re-entry into the handheld computing market earlier this year with the announcement of the Portégé G500 and G900 at 3GSM in Barcelona. The G500 is a slider-format Windows Mobile 5 smartphone, while the Pocket PC-sized G900 runs Windows Mobile 6 and has some high-end features that Toshiba hopes will appeal to buyers of its notebook computers. Our review sample was supplied by Expansys.

Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook P1610

Towards the end of 2005 Fujitsu Siemens launched its LifeBook P1510, a roughly A5-sized convertible Tablet PC. We came out broadly in favour of this system, but had some reservations about screen resolution, USB port provision and battery life. So has its successor, the LifeBook P1610, successfully addressed these concerns?

Belkin PocketTop carry case
Most laptop desks are simple plastic planks with (or without) little feet or risers, meant for keeping your system cool and at a workable angle. Belkin takes a refreshingly different approach with its PocketTop laptop carrying case, pitched as a "mobile workstation," and meant as both a carrying case and a lapdesk.

SmoothWall SmoothGuard 1000-UTM

A well-established vendor of software-based security tools, SmoothWall has taken the next logical step by developing a hardware based UTM (Unified Threat Management) appliance for small to medium sized businesses However, instead of simply porting its software to a low-cost platform (a common approach in this market), the company has gone for an ambitious dual-core-powered device, making it of interest to wide range of companies, large and small.

Toshiba Portégé G500

At the 3GSM event in Barcelona in February 2007, Toshiba announced two new Windows Mobile devices, the Portégé G500 and G900. Here, we review the slider-format Portégé G500 is now available. The Portégé G500 is Toshiba’s first Windows Mobile Smartphone, and is also the first product in its class to feature fingerprint recognition.
