New 3Com SuperStack II stackable switches dramatically lower the cost of high-speed ethernet workgroup enterprise networks

SINGAPORE - 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) has announced its new SuperStack II 3300 switches to provide workgroups with lower priced networking solutions for support of voice, video and data applications.
At only US$80 per port, SuperStack II switches deliver Gigabit Ethernet network technology more affordably to speed up application response, facilitate workgroup collaboration with real-time file-sharing and add efficiencies to business processes, such as order fulfillment and customer service.
3Com also announced today a new warranty for SuperStack II switches, protecting customers' purchases of 3Com stackable switching through complementary access to telephone technical support and hardware replacement.

"After evaluating various models from leading manufacturers, the new SuperStack II Switch 3300XM was our preferred option," said Roger Wanless, IT project manager, Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand.

"The system's new 1U high, 24 port package, coupled with its competitive pricing for education, its comprehensive feature set and 3Com's commitment to educational institutions were deciding factors. As our need for Gigabit uplinks rises, the new SuperStack II 3300 TM and SM models are an appealing solution we can install alongside the existing XM switches."

With 3Com's stackable switching solutions, enterprises benefit from network efficiency, workgroup high performance and small office/remote office network sharing. The new switches offer customers the capabilities to manage bandwidth demands for operation-critical and time-sensitive applications using voice, video and data.

3Com Ethernet networks are a foundation for the 3Com NBX LAN telephony solution and AirConnect wireless LAN solution, which can be easily added for increased flexibility, more integration and better management. In addition, 3Com's network interface cards (NICs), which are continually being advanced, provide intelligence at the desktop to adapt to new applications and take full advantage of the higher-speed systems.
