6 mln broadband users in France by year-end 2004

The number of broadband users in France will exceed 6 mln by the end of 2004. The Autorite de Regulation des Telecommunications, or ART, said there were 5 mln French broadband users at the end of June, up 12% from Q1 2004. The overall number of Internet users reached 11 mln at the end of June. Revenue generated by the Internet access industry was 659 mln Euros in Q2 2004, up 3.5% QTQ. The number of subscribers accessing the Internet via local loop unbundling had topped 1 mln in October.
