68 mln American Web surfers used online travel sites in November 2004, up 13% from November 2003, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. The market research company said 23% of Americans and 46% of all active Web surfers visited a travel site during the month.

68 mln American Web surfers used online travel sites in November 2004, up 13% from November 2003, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. The market research company said 23% of Americans and 46% of all active Web surfers visited a travel site during the month. Online consumers spent $919 mln on travel in November, up 11% from the $828 mln spent last year. MapQuest ranked number one in online travel destinations with 31 mln unique visitors, while Expedia followed with 14 mln visitors. Travelocity was third with 11 mln online surfers, while Orbitz and Southwest Airlines rounded out the top five online travel destinations with 11 mln and 7 mln unique visitors, respectively.
