Acer buys TI mobile PC business
Acer has purchased Texas Instruments' (TI) mobile PC business in a shock move that gives the Taiwan giant a say in the notebook PC market.
TI has been growing fast in the A4 sector after recruiting top executives from rivals including Toshiba and Compaq, and recently made it into the top five players in the US. However, that growth has not been replicated in the UK where it has remained a niche player.
