Mac utilities vendor Aladdin Systems Inc. on Wednesday announced that it has acquired Trexar Technologies Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Watsonville, Calif.-based Aladdin is best-known as the developer of the StuffIt suite of compression utilities as well as MacTicker and IntelliNews, stock- and news-monitoring software. Trexar, a privately owned company based in Alpharetta, Ga., develops MacTuner (a multimedia software tuner for the Mac); WeatherTracker (a cross-platform utility for following weather reports); and MacHeadlines (a scrolling news ticker). Aladdin said it will retain all Trexar employees and maintain the company's offices. -- Matthew Rothenberg, ZDNet News
