Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against the operator of a US website claiming he is cybersquatting on her domain name. Morissette claims the Alanis.net site, run by Russell Smith, is "confusingly similar" to her authorised fan site Alanis.com. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles on Monday, calls Smith a "notorious repeat offender cybersquatter". Smith, the operator of consumer.net - a consumer advice website - claims he registered the alanis.net domain three years ago, and that its content is unrelated to the singer.
