Allegiant Technologies Inc. heated up Web server scripting this week when it unleashed Flamethrower, a CGI tool for its SuperCard environment.

The $495 tool comes with SuperCard 3.0 and Marionet, Allegiant's Internet script controller software. Flamethrower lets users take advantage of SuperCard's graphics capabilities and offers several new features, including beefier error handling and support for unencoded files, Allegiant said.

Flamethrower adds as many as 30 CGI-specific commands to Allegiant's SuperTalk scripting language as well as a new merge and replace function. In addition, the package comes with a set of scripts and routines, including support for relational databases.

The company said owners of SuperCard 3.0 can purchase Flamethrower for $395, which includes a license for a single Web server. Prices for sites requiring multiple servers start at $250 per server.
