Amazon names HP's Rubinstein to board

Amazon has elected Jonathan Rubinstein, head of Hewlett-Packard’s Palm unit, to its board of directors. The company is also bringing periodicals to its Kindle Android app.

Amazon said last week that it has elected Jonathan Rubinstein, head of Hewlett-Packard's Palm unit, to its board of directors.

The addition of Rubinstein will bring a good bit of mobile device know-how to Amazon's board. Rubinstein is an alum of Apple and revamped Palm via the Pre and WebOS. Now he has a key role in HP's device strategy.

Rubinstein will get 5,000 shares of Amazon vesting over three years, according to a regulatory filing.
