AOL today announced it has cut 300 jobs at its Virginia headquarters and Global Network Navigator division following its extensive restructuring program several weeks ago, but added it will not do the same in the UK.

"When you grow really quickly you realise you don't need certain projects," said Jonathan Bulkeley, AOL's UK managing director. "The non-core things were closed, which were not mission critical, and the jobs amounted to around 300."

Separately, Bulkeley refused to deny rumours that AOL in the UK will shortly switch to the recently-implemented US flat rate pricing policy: "We haven't announced it yet. It is important we are perceived as a value service and will price accordingly in the market."

AOL can be contacted by telephone on 0171-385 9404.
