Independent sources have confirmed that Apple is planning to announce an update to its iBook consumer portable within the next 60 days. The new line will feature PowerPC G3 processors running up to 466MHz, built-in DVD support, a FireWire port and 8MB of video ram.

Independent sources have confirmed that Apple is planning to announce an update to its iBook consumer portable within the next 60 days. The new line will feature PowerPC G3 processors running up to 466MHz, built-in DVD support, a FireWire port and 8MB of video ram. Top speed for the current iBook, which has 4MB of VRAM and no FireWire or DVD, is 366MHz. Ironically, Apple released all the details in its recent trade secret lawsuit.
