A series of volcanic eruptions in Alaska were foreseen and no humans were hurt. They are fascinating but were not a surprise. In many parts of the world we have evolved beyond Pompeii. With enough effort and attention we should be able to evolve our climate science to the same level of accuracy.
All this in contradiction of the recent dissing of volcano monitoring by the beloved governor of Louisiana.
I take the current eruption cycle as an example of technology and science in service of humanity. And not only did we get accurate forewarning, we get these great pics: Mt. Redoubt. From space. From airplane. From ground. Courtesy Alaska Volcano Observatory.
