ASG gunning for ACCC services contract

ASG intends to submit a bid in response to the ACCC's request for tender of IT services, hoping to replace the contract it currently holds with the Commission ending June 2008.

in brief Intergrator ASG has confirmed it will tender to retain its position as IT services outsourcer for the ACCC, after its contract with the consumer watchdog expires in June 2008.

"As the current provider, ASG will be submitting a tender for the contract to provide IT services to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and we're optimistic about the opportunity to continue our relationship with the ACCC," the CEO of ASG group said in a statement.

According to the ACCC's tender documents, over the years since the original 2003 contract -- worth AU$1.2 million per year according to The Australian -- was signed with the ASG Group, the ACCC has evolved. The ACCC is "seeking to expand its support services to meet the ACCC's future business needs", a spokesperson for the Commission told ZDNet Australia.

A number of things could be possible in the future according to the tender documents, including the introduction of new desktop and server operating systems and the move to a complete reliance on electronic records.
