Biotech venture capital investments reached $1.6 bln in Q3 2005

The Life Sciences sector (Biotechnology and Medical Devices industries) in Q3 2005 outpaced Q2 2005 with $1.6 bln invested in 155 companies in the third quarter. For Q1-Q3 2005 2005, Life Sciences accounted for $4.2 bln or 26% of all venture investing. At the current rate, Life Sciences will meet or exceed 2004's total of $5.8 bln, according to National Venture Capital Associatiion.
