Borland International has appointed Delbert Yocam as CEO and Chairman. Yocam was Apple's executive vice president and chief operating officer from 1986 to 1988, and president of Apple Pacific from 1988 to 1989. He then worked for printer and terminal manufacturer Tektronix as president and chief operating officer from 1992 to 1994.

Yocam joins the company at a busy time with three major product releases planned for the next six months. Products include Open JBuilder, Borland C++ Builder and Delphi 97. The company has also undergone some financial problems of late and Yocam is expected to introduce a period of "rightsizing." In the first quarter of this year ended June 96, the company lost $14.1 million and in the second quarter ended September 96 lost. Redundancies are expected in order to improve these figures.

Yocam's strategy is expected to be based around establishing Borland as the leading independent supplier of software tools across all computer platforms.
