BT will soon supply network monitoring and management services for Unisys clients, after a six-year deal between the two companies was announced on Monday.

According to BT, the deal involves the implementation of network monitoring and management processes across Unisys's outsourcing operations. BT will also take over the remote management of most of Unisys's clients' LAN and WAN devices.

"We're extremely pleased Unisys has entrusted us with the transformation of their network management operations," said Michael Boustridge, president of BT USA and Canada, on Monday.

"Network-centric outsourcing is core to BT's business, and we look forward to delivering to Unisys improved operational effectiveness at a reduced cost," Boustridge added.

BT Global Services and Unisys already have a long history of collaboration. Unisys installs and maintains servers and routers on behalf of BT in more than 100 countries, as well as providing managed application services and data-centre and consulting services for BT's messaging portfolio in the UK.

Randy Hendricks, president of global outsourcing and infrastructure services for Unisys, pointed to this long-term relationship on Monday, adding that "combining BT's worldwide scale and networking expertise with Unisys's comprehensive IT services management experience extends our ability to provide next-generation network support today".
