(This is the wrong sort of blog post to be writing with an empty stomach.)
Building a web site is like cooking a meal - it's all in the preparation. I have been using the ever-delightful lightweight markup language known as Markdown to copy and paste articles from a PDF document into a text file, converted into HTML using Showdown and then pasted into the Joomla! CMS.
I have done this 19 times. It was like peeling potatoes.
And then there were some logos, all resized to fit 192 pixels wide. And saved in a format other than the dinosaur Windows BMP (not to be confused with the amphibious Soviet armoured vehicle. Obviously).
I could have just thrown the copy straight from the PDF into Joomla!. But that would be a mess. And it would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
The next part of the recipe (aka Functional Spec which I pretty much wrote myself) calls “A fresh and invigorating graphic design mockup”, around which I'll weave the final tasty dish. Let's hope I don't end up with corned beef hash-up.
