Canon powers up two new cameras

Imaging company Canon announced two new digital camera models in advance of the PhotoKina trade show in Germany next week. The PowerShot G3, the successor to Canon's high-end G2 camera, captures images at resolution of up to 4 megapixels and has a 4X zoom lens.

Imaging company Canon announced two new digital camera models in advance of the PhotoKina trade show in Germany next week. The PowerShot G3, the successor to Canon's high-end G2 camera, captures images at resolution of up to 4 megapixels and has a 4X zoom lens. New features include built-in filter effects, more advanced white-balance settings and more intelligent computation of automatic settings. The camera will be available next month at $899.

Canon also announced the PowerShot S230, a credit card-size camera just one inch thick and 6.3 ounces in weight. The tiny camera captures images at resolutions up to 3.2 megapixels, has a 2X zoom lens and can directly export images to certain printers.
