Microsoft supporter has a bit of rethink...
Compaq has had a change of heart and announced it will support Java in Windows XP only weeks after deciding to follow Microsoft's lead and dump the open source language on the desktop. Last month Microsoft announced it was phasing out Java on its top line desktop products including Windows XP. Compaq initially agreed, but the staunch Microsoft supporter has had a rethink. Due to popular demand from customers, Compaq will provide a Java Virtual Machine to enable users to run Java applications. Compaq is now the second PC vendor to go against Microsoft and help users run Java.
