23 May 2000 - The Lowell, Mass. e-business integrator built the shopping cart and product catalog for GetConnected.com, which plans a nationwide launch in June. The Web site lets consumers research and purchase services such as Internet access, wireless telephony, local and long-distance telephone, cable television, and satellite television, among others.

Al SanClemente, co-founder and chief executive officer of Web Tech Partners, says GetConnected.com had a tight time-to-market schedule and some complex requirements.

In building the data model for the Web site's catalog, for example, Web Tech Partners had to take into account the complex relationships between various service plans and the different products associated with those plans, SanClemente notes. The project also called for the creation of a highly customizable shopping cart.

The GetConnected.com site is based on Microsoft Corp.'s Site Server, Commerce Edition and SQL Server 7.0.

SanClemente says Web Tech Partners has been working with GetConnected.com since November 1999, delivering functionality in 8- to 12-week increments. In addition to providing catalog and shopping cart, Web Tech Partners also extended the site's back-end fulfillment integration, he adds.

But SanClemente is a customer, as well as a builder. He recently put GetConnected.com to the test in selecting a cellular plan and purchasing a cell phone. He provided feedback to the development team based on his shopping experience.

Other Web Tech Partners customers include Monster.com and OrderTrust LLC.
