eBay.com was plagued by a multi-hour outage on Wednesday, the first in months to last more than two hours. The auction site went down around 11:35 a.m. PST and was still down more than three hours later.

Visitors could access eBay's home page and some of its category listings, but they could not view individual auctions, place bids or list items. In an announcement posted on the site, eBay said it would extend by 24 hours all auctions that were set to close during the outage or up to one hour after it ends. The company said it will refund fees for all those auctions. -- Troy Wolverton, Special to ZDNet News
